Bruce-Watson enjoys easy win at boxing club's final show
Wells Boxing Club's successful season came to an end with the last two shows held at Southampton and Portsmouth.
Teaken Prior boxed A Devonport, losing on a close points decision.
Ellis White, of Shepton Mallet, also lost on a close points verdict to S Turner- Ellis, who had a very good first season.
Shea Bruce-Watson, of Glastonbury, had yet another win under his belt with an easy points decision, and is looking to improve even more next season.
Millie Warren, of Prestleigh, boxed in the female ABA final, after putting P Burrow, of Yorkshire, on the floor with a cracking left hook with Burrow taking an eight count. In the same round, Burrow was given a public warning for constantly holding and swearing at Millie who seemed to be on top throughout the fight, but who, to everyone's amazement, lost the contest on a split points verdict. Coach Liam White put in an official protest but once a decision is made it has to stand.
Wells then held their end-of-season presentation night at the Crossways Hotel, North Wootton, with Teaken Prior winning boxer of the year, Millie Warren taking best female boxer and Ellis White winning most improved and the Boxers' Boxer of the Year.
The presentation was attended by the clubs main sponsors; Adrian and Mark Ambrosini, of Brick Peers Ltd and committee members and coaches; Liam White, Clive Gadd, Martin Baily, Paul and Dianne Warren, John Carter and Shane White.
A cheque for £1378.46 was given to each charity, which was money raised from the last boxing show, and was presented to South West Hospice and Help the Heroes.
