Brothers organise football match in memory of sister
The memory of their one-year-old sister has spurred two Crewkerne brothers into organising a 12-hour football match for charity.
Adam, 20, and Dan Swinnerton, 22, want to raise money for Ups and Downs South West, a Down’s Syndrome group which works with families affected by the condition.
Their sister, Amy-Grace De Se-Ja Martin was born on November 24, 2008, with the syndrome and died on January 30, 2010.
The brothers are organising the football marathon at Wadham Sports Centre on Sunday, November 18.

Adam, a fitness instructor and lifeguard at Crewkerne Aqua Centre, said: “It’s going to run from 9am until 9pm and I’ve got about six or seven people who are willing to try and do all 12 hours, as well as several local football teams from around the area and even some cricket clubs, like North Perrott.
“We’re getting a lot of support. We want to bring the community together; all ages and genders are taking part.”
The Swinnerton brothers have set up a justgiving page and have so far managed to raise £260 for Ups and Downs.
Adam said: “It is an amazing group. They helped us when there was a lot of stress on the family. We did not know how to react or what to do when we were told Amy had Down’s Syndrome.
“We had a lady called Wendy who helped us with a couple of sessions and it really brings families together and helps you understand the condition.
“We left it a couple of years after Amy’s death before we did anything. It was coming up to what would have been her birthday and I thought what could I do?
“I really hope it’s a success.”
Adam and Dan are hoping to attract more teams to take part. Donate at www.justgiving.com/remember/35826/Amy-Grace-De%20Se-Ja%20Martin.
