Bridgwater rescue team saves cow from being swept away in river
A cow became stranded on a sand bank after wandering into a river near Bridgwater yesterday afternoon.
Rescue teams were called to Combwich, near Otterhampton, at around 2pm to find one Aberdeen Angus cow stuck in the middle of the River Parrett.

A Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue spokesman said: "Due to the fast moving tide, the animal started to float across to the Pawlett side of the river.
"Fire crews deployed an inflatable boat, tethered the animal with rescue lines and rescued the cow from the river.
