Bridgwater charities and organisations offered free furniture and school equipment
Since 2011, the development of three schools in Bridgwater has injected £12.7million into the local economy and created 60 jobs and 12 new apprentice positions.
The development is for the delivery of new buildings to the students of Chilton Trinity Technology College, Robert Blake Science College and Elmwood School on two different sites.
The project is having a very positive impact on the economy of Bridgwater, and Somerset in a number of different ways.
Equipment and furniture from the old school sites not required in the new buildings will be donated to local schools, charities and not-for-profit organisations that benefit young people in Bridgwater.

Any surplus equipment will then be offered to other areas of Somerset, then the South West and nationally.
Cabinet Member for Children and Families, Frances Nicholson said, "I am really pleased to see the evidence of the boost the construction of these new schools has given to Bridgwater. I am also impressed by the 'waste not, want not' approach to surplus but good-condition equipment that can now be passed on for further local benefit."
BAM Construction, the construction company contracted to build the schools, has worked with 80 businesses in Somerset since 2011. It said that £12.7million went into the local economy, with a large number of employees who worked on the new schools coming from the county.
Education and Community Co-ordinator for BAM Construction, Lorna Lewis, said: "Overall 78 apprentices have worked on the new schools, many of whom have completed their training whilst working with BAM Construction. We also achieved a local employment rate of 70 per cent across the project, which has been a fantastic boost to the local workforce and economy."
