Bridgwater Town U18s withdrawn from league due to weather problems
Bridgwater Town have withdrawn their Under 18 side from the Somerset Floodlit Youth League because of a pile-up of fixtures and the state of their pitch at Fairfax Park.
Last night’s first team game at home to North Leigh became the latest match to be called off because of a waterlogged pitch.

A club spokesman said last night: “The recent spell of wet weather has been a major factor in the postponement of several first and reserve team games which have had to be rearranged for midweek, replacing Under 18 games.
“With more bad weather expected over the next few weeks, more games will be at risk.

“Finding suitable dates to rearrange Under 18 fixtures has become increasingly difficult, so the decision, not taken likely, to withdraw the side has been forced upon us.”
Bridgwater’s joint manager Dave Pople said he hopes the youngsters do not get too despondent with the news.
“We’re not knocking it on the head altogether – it is just for this season – and the players who are good enough are still involved in the reserves and first team squads anyway.”
Alex Rigley, once on the books of Swindon Town and an attacking left-sided midfielder, has joined Bridgwater.
