POLICE are urging homeowners to beware of distraction burglars. The warning follows several thefts, the most recent of which saw a pension book stolen by bogus officials.

PC Julia Seymour said: "These men are described as white men in their 20s to 30s, with dark hair and wearing dark clothing."

Advice is to check ID and refuse entry if in any doubt.
