Bodies found could be missing swimmers
A BODY found in the Bristol Channel at Clevedon seafront could be one of the two men who went missing from Weston.
Portishead Lifeboat recovered the body, confirmed as male, at 1.30pm on Tuesday, after Swansea Coastguard received a call from a vessel reporting a body spotted floating in the water near Marine Lake.
A second body was also found the same afternoon washed ashore at Barry, near Cardiff,
Dave Ellams, aged 35 and Lee Tompkins, 33, both of Weston, were last seen in the town last Tuesday.
They had been enjoying an evening with their girlfriends and went for a swim near Birnbeck Island but got swept away.
Despite a major search and rescue mission involving more than 50 people that evening and into the next day, the pair were not found.
Mr Ellam's girlfriend Aimee Crisp said police believe the body found in Clevedon, could be his.
Both bodies have now been taken to the coroner in Bristol for identification and a postmortem examination.
