Fire crews have tackled a large fire which ripped through trees and undergrowth near Axbridge.

The blaze, at Shute Shelve Hill, measured around 165 square feet at its height and two crews from Cheddar requested further help from Winscombe and Weston-super-Mare.

Crews tackled the fire, which broke out at around 9pm last night, in sections using beaters and a special military off-road vehicle called a Pinzgauer as well as a hose reel jet.

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service say the fire started as a result of burning taking place during the day.
