Hello everyone and happy new year. The holidays are over, the decorations have been taken down and I'm back at school.

It's great to see all my school friends again but after all the excitement of Christmas I was not sure what we had to look forward to in the next few weeks until I asked Dad.

He said that although January may be cold and wet, special things do happen. For a start, lots of Billie Bear Club members have birthdays to celebrate. It is also the month of wassailing when people drink to the health of the apple trees, and on January 25 some people celebrate the birth of the Scottish poet Robert Burns with a Burns' Night supper. That sounds like fun to me.

Some very special flowers also make their appearance this month, he told me, but you have to have sharp eyes to spot them. So we are going to go out on a snowdrop hunt this weekend to see if I can find any. What are your plans over the next few weeks? Why not write to me and let me know. You could also go out on a snowdrop hunt and perhaps send me some of your pictures.

Now, I have some new members to introduce to you all this week.

Today, Connor Cove, of Walton, is six years old, Ryan Bush, of Axbridge, is nine, Emily Moseley, of Wells, is 10, Harriet Bailey, of Shepton Mallet, is 10 and Kate Sumner, of Bradford, West Yorkshire, is nine.

Tomorrow, Thomas Curnow, of Street, will be celebrating his eighth birthday and Regan Tozer, of Wincanton, will be nine.

On Saturday, Thomas Ham, of Lower Godney, will be five years old.

Sunday is the eighth birthday of Millie Winsor, of Street, Tommy Restorick, of Glastonbury, will be five, Lois Crouch, of Street, will be seven, Freddie Brown, of Glastonbury, will be eight, Max Doughty, of Shepton Mallet, will be 10, Luke Carpenter, of Street, will be nine and Christian Fortune, of Coleford, will be 10.

Monday is the ninth birthday of Christopher Routley, of Axbridge, Nathan Carpenter, of Street, will be three, Emily Hunt, of Somerton, will be five, Evan Turner, of Street, will be 10, Cole Rostron, of Wells, will be six, Ryan Longman, of Pylle, will be 11, Casey Spearing, of Shepton Mallet, will be 10, Luke Tutthill, of Evercreech, will be 10 and Elliott Bulmer, of Street, will be 10.

On Tuesday, Jessica Chapman, of Winscombe, will be 11 and Ben Cox, of Stoke St Michael, will be 11.

Wednesday is the second birthday of Rosie Payne, of Priddy and Ryan Pickersgill, of Glastonbury, will be 11.
