Billie Bear birthdays, new members and diary for week beginning February 11
Hello everyone.Kung Hei Fat Choy – or happy Chinese new year.
This week at school we have been learning about the Chinese new year and how it is the most important of the Chinese holidays. It is celebrated with fireworks and gift-giving and by eating lots of delicious food with the family. The Chinese calendar follows a 12-year pattern with each year named after an animal. At the moment it is still the Year of the Ox but the next Chinese new year, on February 14, will bring in the Year of the Tiger. We have been making tigers out of cardboard tubes at school along with lucky money envelopes. These are not the only things I have been making however – I am also working on a card for Valentine's Day on Sunday. This is causing me a bit of a headache as I am not sure how to get my card to the girl that I like. If it was on a school day it would be easy but mum won't let me walk any further than the end of my road on my own, so I can't deliver it myself. I may have to put my thinking cap on. Never mind, she is worth the effort and if I get a card back in return it would cheer me up.

I hope you all have a great half-term break and don't forget to make pancakes for Shrove Tuesday next week. Let me know if any of you are taking part in a pancake race, it would be great to see some photos.
