Five of the Best at SAW
There is still time to catch Five of the Best, a highly professional group of Somerset artists, currently exhibiting at Ian Marlow's beautiful sculpture gardens and studio near Frome.
The exhibition, which is part of Somerset Arts Weeks, features the garden ceramics and thrown porcelain of Christine-Anne Richards, which are influenced by her remarkable journeys to China and Japan.
Precious jewellery and supporting art-work by award winning jeweller Erica Sharpe, of Wedmore, show a unique embodiment of story, colour, heritage and emotion.
Steve Frey, will be exhibiting his fascinating carved and coloured glass sculptures which are inspired by soft curves and natural forms, creating mesmerising optical qualities.
Surfaces, textures and colours from the natural world inspire the abstract collagraphs, etchings and collages by the artist Karin Campagna.
Leading sculptor, Ian Marlow ARBS, creates distinctive steel and glass sculptures that are an exploration of our place within the natural world, inspired by the natural forms from the surrounding Somerset countryside.
Ian created the Guinevere Swan sculpture at the Bishop's Place Wells and Sir Gromit of Bristol (pictured) which is expected to attract one of the highest bids at the Aardman Charity Art Auction for Bristol Childrens' Hospital Appeal on Thursday, October 3.
The group have been brought together by their shared mind-set and approach towards their individual disciplines and love of the surroundings in which they are exhibiting.
The exhibition is open from 11am to 6pm each day and runs until Sunday, October 6.
