Bell Inn landlords call Bristol Ghost Hunters to check out spirits in the bar
WHEN the new landlords of the Bell Inn at Buckland Dinham moved into the pub, they had no idea they would be sharing their home with so many ghostly guests.
So much so Karen Ferriman and Nick Taylor have asked professional ghostbusters to come in and investigate.
The pair said they didn't believe in the supernatural before they moved into the pub, but have since changed their minds.
But on Saturday, November 2, the Bristol Ghost Hunters will spend the night at the ancient pub and try to figure out what has been going on.
Miss Ferriman said: "I can honestly say the place is haunted and before moving in here I didn't believe in all that – but we do now.
"We thought the previous landlord was joking when he said how many weird things go on, but we certainly believe him now.
"So far, I have seen an old lady and heard a child's laugh, and the cats are also watching things that are not there – it does freak me out a little."
The 16th-century Grade-II listed building has long been known to be haunted with the previous owners refusing to sleep in the upstairs quarters of the pub due to their fright.
Miss Ferriman said: "The first time I saw something strange was quite late at night. Nick was in the bar and I was finishing up in the kitchen, I walked out past the toilets and an old lady passed me.
"When I got into the bar I asked Nick who the woman was and he said there was no one in the pub, which was quite freaky.
"I have also heard a child laughing about a dozen times in certain areas of the pub and just before it happens the area goes quite cold.
"Since then loads of things have happened, most notably, lights being switched on, spine tingling screams and now some of my kitchen staff won't be alone in there."
