Beckington's Scallop Shell makes national fish and chip awards shortlist
THE Scallop Shell is the only South West-based fish and chip shop to make it to the National Seafish Fish & Chip Awards shortlist.
The fish and chip shop, based at Beckington's Whiterow Farm Shop, has been nominated in the best newcomer category.
The Scallop Shell has been open only 18 months and have hardly had time for their feet to touch the ground since opening and is delighted with the news.
Owner and chef Garry Rosser said: "It has been a really amazing 18 months.
"I always wanted to open a fish and chip shop and as we already had our fishmongers open here we thought we'd give it a try, we couldn't have imagined the level of support and recognition from locals.
"To be shortlisted in this award gives the team a real sense of pride, to win it would be the icing on the cake."
Seven fish and chip shops have made it to the final shortlist and winners will be announced in January.
