Clevedon Town Colts U13s 2

Axbridge Saxons U13s 2

Axbridge secured the runners-up spot in a tense battle with Clevedon, who were looking for a win to avoid relegation. Axbridge needed a win to be sure, but in the end a point was enough as they were helped by other results in the league.

Saxons started strongly and Luke Currums put them in front with a great individual effort after four minutes. Good efforts from Jack Densley-Garrett and Nathan Heather failed to increase the lead before Clevedon broke away from an Axbridge corner to level the game. Colts then deservedly took the lead just before half-time.

Injury-hit Axbridge threw everything at Clevedon in the second half as Jamie Allen, Harvey Hemmens and Rhys Ford held back to allow Jake Durbin to push forward, with Tom Davies and Tom Newton, Austin Petheram and Ollie Cashmore putting in strong performances.

Zac Hogarth battled with Currums to open the Clevedon defence and eventually Ross McColgan, on for Densley- Garrett, cracked in a volley from the edge of the box.

Looking to win the game, Axbridge missed the firepower of injured striker Charlie Scott and were left exposed at the back. Ford made a great last-man clearance off the line and keeper Jake Cutter pulled off two splendid blocking saves to keep the scores level.
