Arul Suppiah rewarded for Somerset service with benefit year
Somerset all-rounder Arul Suppiah, who made his first-class debut for the county in 2002, has been granted a benefit year in 2013.
The 29-year-old, who has scored more than 5,000 first-class runs for the county at an average of almost 34, has also proved a more-than-handy slow left-arm bowler.

He grabbed headlines in 2011 when he claimed world-record Twenty20 bowling figures of six for five in a match against Glamorgan at Cardiff. Born in Malaysia, Suppiah moved to England at 13 to attend Millfield School and was last year granted British citizenship.
He said: “I am thrilled that the club has granted me this fantastic opportunity. I have been involved with Somerset for all of my adult life and I am really looking forward to having a successful season both on and off the field.”

The Weston-super-Mare area of Somerset CCC will hold their annual meeting at Weston-super-Mare CC tonight. During the evening, a presentation will be made to departing Somerset director of cricket Brian Rose.
Wayne Madsen has been rewarded for leading Derbyshire to the LV= County Championship Division Two title by signing a new three-year deal, which runs until the end of the 2015 season.
Madsen was in inspired form in his first season as captain as not only did he lead Derbyshire to their first trophy since 1993, he was also their leading run-scorer with 885 at an average of 38.47.
He also recorded his career-best score of 231 not out.
