Appeal after driver dies in A37 collision near Chelwood

Police are appealing for information after an accident on the A37 in which a 45-year-old Clutton man died.

Colin Hackett was driving his Ford Fiesta which was in collision with a lorry on the road between Red Hill and Chelwood last Wednesday.

The accident happened just after 2pm on a bend not far from Mr Hackett's home.

The Great Western Air Ambulance with a critical care team on board, an emergency first responder and paramedics were called to the scene.

The lorry driver was not injured.

The road was closed between Whitecross Lane and Chelwood for several hours and traffic diverted as police began investigations into how the accident happened.
