Fifteen hardy Frome Running Club members took part in this year's Slaughterford 9, the first race in the club's 2012 Off-Road Grand Prix series.

Gruelling hill climbs, plenty of mud and a water obstacle tested runners to the full.

Frome RC results: Rich Allen (MV40) 1:08:33, Steve Frankl 1:10:10, Ian Holmes (MV40) in 1:13:52, Alistair Dove 1:15:49, Marcus Gaffney (MV40) 1:21:52, Nick Jones (MV50) 1:28:41, John Boulton (MV50) 1:30:53, Jacqui Betts (FV45) 1:31:12, Dave Lowes (MV50) 1:33:42, Lucy Gaffney (FV40) 1:36:09, Mark Aston (V60) 1:37:22, Karen Evans (FV45) 1:37:55, Zoe Boulton 1:42:15, Debbie Roberts (FV45) 1:42:58, Gemma Bull 1:55:01.

Meanwhile, Lynne Grossett travelled to Morocco to take part in the Marrakesh Half Marathon.

Escaping the chill and mud of an English winter to race in more pleasant conditions, Grossett finished the race in 2hrs 20mins.

Frome RC's latest club time trial took place last Wednesday, with a record 41 runners taking on the 5km course, five more than last month.
