Alice Berry crowned as Glastonbury Carnival princess
This year’s Glastonbury Carnival princess has been crowned.
Seven-year-old Alice Berry from Street collected £1,638 through sponsorship to claim the title and lead this year’s procession through Glastonbury.
Between them, the entrants to the competition helped to raise £2,568 for good causes.
As well as heading the colourful procession, the princess will take part in presentations and official ceremonies throughout next year as a way of recognising her role and hard work.

She will be crowned on the evening of Glastonbury Carnival by the Mayoress of Glastonbury in a special ceremony. This year, five girls and one boy entered the race for the right to lead the procession.
Those who entered will take their place at Alice’s side on November 17.
Tony Frazier, secretary of Glastonbury Chilkwell Guy Fawkes Carnival Ltd said: “The committee would like to thank Sally Lee for organising the competition and to all of the girls and boys who took part, the generous sponsors and of course the parents and guardians who put in many hours of footwork in seeking sponsors for the children who entered the competition.
“We would also like to thank Mr Morris Clarke for making and presenting to the committee the new throne and to his wife Rose for producing sashes for the princess and her attendants.”
This year, Glastonbury Carnival will be the last on the circuit, taking place on November 17.
The procession is due to start at the Northload Roundabout at 7pm, snaking its way through the town.
Events including a display of vintage cars in Magdalene Street during the afternoon will feature in the run up to the big event.
Organisers are encouraging people to start saving their pennies to help make this year’s collection one of the biggest ever.
