Abbey's new management a breath of fresh air
What a ridiculously uninformed letter from Mike Derbidge in last week's paper.
The abbey has featured in many (possibly hundreds) of television programmes over the years, not all of them with a Christian theme but many about the spiritual and mystical side of the abbey's allure. In these days of multi-faith inclusiveness, to be offended by such a minor thing as a Hollywood film is rather old-fashioned surely?
As for the abbey's management wishing to turn the place into a theme park, I laughed out loud at reading this – between us my colleague and I have worked in the abbey grounds for 34 years – I think we would be aware of any plans of this nature don't you?
On the contrary, the new management have a very sympathetic, enthusiastic and modern way of working that is a breath of fresh air compared to some of the stuffiness of the past.
