A39 reopens in Wells following serious crash

The A39 has reopened in both directions at Wells following a serious crash this morning.

The road was closed between the B3139 New Street and B3135 junctions for more than two hours.

    The A39 in Wells was closed for around two hours

Emergency services were at the scene and a police diversion was put in place, sending motorists along the B3139 through West Horrington and then along the B3135 to Green Ore.

Fire crews from Wells, Shepton Mallet and Glastonbury were called to the scene shortly after 11.30am, and the road was reopened shortly before 2pm. The extent of any injuries is not yet known.
