The duo will use the event to raise funds for cancer research and the Somerset Rural Youth Project.
"We're not really sure how we will react physically or mentally to the sleep deprivation or being out of breath for 36-hours, going up and down the same lane," said Mr Kyd.

"Due to the inability to hydrate whilst swimming, each stint will have to be kept fairly short meaning that any sleep in the 36-hours is probably of the cards."
They are calling on friends, family and anyone who wishes to come along to support them to get involved, either by counting lengths, sponsorship, or simply shouting support at them from the sidelines.
They are also hoping to find some masseurs who will be willing to help ease the pain of cramp and other fatigue-based injuries during the challenge.
Length counters – Being sprinters, neither of them are used to counting past 4 lengths. This will become trickier with sleep deprivation too.
