£200k plan to tackle speeding drivers on Frome roads
The Frome area could be in line to receive a share of £200,000 worth of equipment to help battle speeding drivers.
Somerset County Council has announced it will give the funds to buy speed indicator devices (SID), pictured, to towns and villages which experience speeding problems.

The money has come from the council's capital fund.
Cabinet members David Hall and Harvey Siggs announced a new policy for how the council manages permanent and portable vehicle-activated signs, and the funding for expanding the portable sign scheme.

Mr Hall said: "Somerset communities can now have warning signs installed to help them address the problems caused by speeding vehicles without it costing them a penny.
"If there are places in your community where frequent speeding is perceived to be a problem, I urge members of the public to speak to their parish council and encourage them to apply."
Annual charges to councils wanting the signs installed temporarily in problems areas have been scrapped. Parish and town councils will be able to apply for one SID at any time, but further applications could be considered at a later date.
The county council's new policy will also give people a greater say over where the signs are positioned, as long as the locations meet qualifying criteria.
Cabinet member for highways, Mr Siggs said: "This is a great opportunity for towns and villages to help us make their communities safer, and be more involved in helping manage the roads where they live."
The signs will spend up to two weeks in any location, and will not be installed in the same place within four months.
The county council will also consult with town and parish councils to see how they would be able to manage the signs' deployment and data sharing themselves in the future.

“Good to see the Tories acknowledging that the "war on motorists" needs to continue in Frome, however disappointing to read that the £200K in your headline becomes a "share of £200k" by your first sentence. Is this share £10? £100? £100K? Also disappointed to read that this money now comes from the councils ever-shrinking capital budget rather than from central funding - do all these speeding motorists come from Somerset and which services will be losing out on funding to cover this cost?”
